SILENT LISTENING

The scene is a desert tent

Inside the air is rent

By the sound of a child sobbing

Thugs outside, intent on robbing

Him of simple liberty

Right of human to be free

Within the realm of father and of friend

Within this scene, God is YOUR role

You have the power to strike the pole

To free the child, expel the thug

Restore to father's, mother's hug

A little infant there in pain

Sold as slave for wicked gain

By fellow siblings, jealous of the Bain

So how is it that you did choose to act?

And GOD didn't in this story, which was fact

As Joseph left in tent to end up slave

Did rise in Egypt; man of power to save

A nation whole, including brothers

Jealous of the sibling, other's

Favourite in a coat of many colours

So how mighty is the silence of our God?

How great is he in exercise of that divine rod

Of power in ways we can't conceive

In love we often can't believe

With vision set so low

He teases us to grow

And know the well spring of that source of Living Water

How mighty is the silence of His listening

Not deaf to cries; to sweat and bloody glistening

On a body; on a cross

On a son; a tragic loss

Turned into mighty action; love in glorious flower

So intense, so razor sharp that sin and death still glower

In non- focus on their cut in worldly Power

This rise of weakness into strength

Pierces history in its length

Of perspective over human way

Not by God a measured day

But timeless rise by love

Exceeding earthly Emperor's shove

In innocence teased on to light above

And so we rise over earthly sorrow

Promised by our God, a heard tomorrow

Lived in love and tested in the past

Paid for by him who loves us to the last

Made in his blood and body pain

Resurrected love does seal the gain

As heavens applaud the silence of our God----

Reflect a coat of many colours

Paint splashed in the tears of brothers

Come to one in rainbow's shimmering Light
