LIGHTS from the TWIN TOWERS

LIGHTS FROM THE TWIN TOWERS read by the author

Whoosh and Rattle and Fire Bomb Thumps

Fuel and Flame Cascades, and the Scary Lumps

Dali's worst nightmares and images cry

One hundred "stories" up in the sky

Grey smoke choking the shadows of flashlight

Where the scream and siren and water falls bright

Cascading to earth in long shadowy tunnels

Of "keep moving down" in the bustling funnels

Buried in debris and falling in night

Crawling and crawling to pinpoint of light

Where Love in the cloak of policeman and fire

Puts his life on hold to dig in the mire

Black Plaster of Paris and spitting out black

From lungs that are choked by total air lack

To water and washing and welcoming light

Where Black Sounds can fade in the bustle of fright

But there in the space left by Babel twin towers

Within acrid smoke where the devil glowers

Crystal clear structures rise so high in the Sky

Built soundly on love within sacrifice cry

We are the dead of the Twin Towers

Passing the Light of our "Nation's Flowers"

To you who believe in Liberty's bell

To you who stand up when confronted by Hell

Look for us in the morning light

Feel us in the uplifting flight

Of birds and clouds and Soaring Will

For Justice fed by child's laughter still

We are the dead of many hues

Sacrificed to pay all dues

Of racial hatred, ethnic dead......

Let Love arise; see Freedom fed

Forefather's wisdom that Slave we see

Denies freedom to you and me

Justice for all or Justice for none

A Clarion call not destroyed by bomb

Action now; take on the Flame

One Standard flies to lead the claim

We died for Light, and Light for all

And we will not rest 'less you heed our call

Our killers too were deceived by "Nick"

Take time to address this very root of sick

Firmly cut the cancer deep and true

And know that we are so very proud of you
